Summary

We've all heard stories of people who seemed wildly successful on the outside but eventually crumbled, their empires falling like a house of cards. The reality is, knowing the right people, having money, or catching a lucky break can certainly propel you to the top, but it's character that will ultimately determine if you stay there. Here are the three pillars to building success slowly but surely by cultivating the right character traits.

1. Mastering Your Emotional World
Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the cornerstone of personal and professional success. It's not just about being in touch with your feelings; it's about understanding and regulating them effectively.

  • Emotional Awareness: To master your emotional world, you must first be aware of your emotions. Understand what triggers your joy, anger, fear, and sadness. This self-awareness is essential for making conscious decisions.
  • Emotional Regulation: Emotions can be powerful forces, but they should not dictate your actions. Practice emotional regulation, which means managing your feelings in a way that doesn't harm yourself or others.
  • Outlets for Emotions: Everyone experiences anger and fear, but how you handle them is what matters. Find healthy outlets for these emotions, such as exercise, art, or meditation, rather than letting them fester or explode.
  • Setting Boundaries: Healthy boundaries are crucial for maintaining emotional well-being. Learn to say no when necessary, and protect your time and energy from draining influences.
  • Self-Discipline: Character development also involves self-discipline. It's about doing what needs to be done even when you don't feel like it. This quality is what keeps you moving forward on the path to success.

2. Industriousness
Success rarely comes to those who sit idly waiting for opportunities. Industriousness is the art of being a self-starter, spotting opportunities, and taking action. Don't wait for others to tell you what to do or for circumstances to be perfect. Take initiative, set your goals, and proactively work toward them. Don't be afraid to embrace the struggle that comes with the journey. Understand that the best rewards in life often come from hard work.

3. Integrity
At the heart of enduring success lies integrity. It's about aligning your actions with your words and values, even when it's challenging. Be someone who does what they say they will do: If you make a commitment, follow through. Your reputation is built on your ability to deliver on your promises. Take the time to articulate your values. Your values should guide your actions. Ensure that your principles are not just empty words but driving forces behind your decisions. There will be opportunities to take shortcuts, "get-rich-quick", or cut corners. In those moments, consider your legacy. Think 30 years out, not just 30 days. Building success that lasts requires making choices that align with your long-term vision of who you want to be.

Success isn't just about the right connections or fortunate breaks. It's about the character you build along the way. Master your emotional world through EQ, embrace industriousness by being a self-starter and persevering through challenges, and uphold integrity by staying true to your values and thinking about the legacy you want to leave. These character traits will not only help you reach the pinnacle of success but will also KEEP you there!

Until next time my friends remember, you're doing better than you think and you're worth more than you know.

Talk soon,
Joey

what's up my good people this is Joey young in the modern economy becoming an overnight success is more visible and more achievable than ever but is this a good thing and is becoming an overnight success even a good goal for you to have let's talk about it

hey leaders I know it's easy to get overwhelmed you've got Personnel problems work deadlines and a to-do list longer than you can count I bet it's been a long time since you've looked at your weekly planning strategy that's why I created the free weekly super psycho method training the worksheet is available right now as a download There's a link in my description it'll help you to plan your week so you can get rid of that overwhelm you feel finally get in control of the to-do list and make measurable progress towards those really important kpis the weekly super psycho method is totally free there's a link in my description right now to help you get more traction this week week than you've ever had check it out alright yes we've all heard those awesome stories of people who rock it to the top their overnight success stories are just fun to listen to but there's also people who fall pretty fast From Success so what's gone wrong well when you get to a certain place of success it's not your skills and and your talents that will keep you there it's your character your character needs to rise to the same level of your success for you to be able to maintain it so I think a much better question than asking how do I become an overnight success or having that as a goal to be an overnight success is to ask how can I create success slowly but surely the old-fashioned way if you will let's talk about that because that's going to be a much more helpful and much more important skill to learn so what is someone who takes this slow but sure success route do what do they actually do to accomplish this tortoise over-the-hair approach to creating success in their life well I've got three big ideas for you today and the first one is they have emotional Mastery emotional Mastery is this idea that we can actually be aware of how we're doing emotionally and we can take actions based on how we're feeling a lot of people walk around not knowing how they're doing and it's really really hard to be able to manage your emotions and build the habits you need to build if you don't have an awareness of how you're feeling so doing check-ins with yourself is really really important how am I doing right now how did that conversation leave me how do I need to reset myself right now so that I can approach the rest of my day with intention and with energy as opposed to drag in the conversation I just came from and all the baggage that came with it so have you done this before how am I doing right now check in with yourself throughout the day and once you have this answer it can start to engage in emotional regulation which is the ability to say all right I'm feeling this way but I don't want it to become overblown or I'm feeling this way and I would like to maximize this feeling right now maybe you're just got out of an argument with somebody and you're really mad and you're like normal thing to do would be to choose someone out on the phone maybe instead you say all right I'm really angry right now I'm gonna go for a walk around the block so I don't spend the rest of my day seething and get nothing else done that's emotional Mastery that's a good first step the second principle of slow but sure success is being industrious industrious is an old-timey word for diligence work ethic being a self-starter someone who can take an opportunity brainstorm a solution leverage resources and create a whole new scenario that helps people they're problem solvers they're glass half full creative types who are actually able to implement a solution and create a scenario that moves someone's life forward who brings people up who actually solves a really difficult issue that's been going on those are industrious people they work hard they get things done and they see things in a way where they can contribute like someone who's industrious doesn't believe that the path to fulfillment and joy is through avoiding work there are people who say you know what I want to engage with this problem I want to dig into the details I want to get in the nitty-gritty of what's going on in this situation and create a better future for this person by finding some way to help them that's industriousness and that's going to really create that Slow Burn success that you're looking for because people will start to see you as someone who doesn't shy away from work but who takes responsibility and who really enjoys solving the problems that other people have and that leads me to the third principle of slow but sure success which is integrity Integrity is the ability to do what you say you will do it's keeping commitments it's not over committing yourself so you can't do what you promise to do it's just getting stuff done and saying no to the other thing someone who has Integrity doesn't over inflate their achievements they don't say they can do things that they can't do or or say that they're are more than they are they just show up confident with who they are saying this is what I can contribute and I'm excited to do so someone with Integrity has principles for their business and and how they run their professional life and they have values in their personal life that they don't cross and anytime any new opportunity comes across their plate they run that opportunity through their principles through their goals where they want to go through their values that they hold to make sure that what they're doing isn't cutting corners or or cheating one of those things that they have that are very important to them someone with Integrity you can tell because they live very comfortable in who they are and I hope you can live that way too and I hope that this video has been helpful to see how it's not worth it to chase the goal of being overnight success it's not fun it's not fulfilling and you can't stay there without the character instead Implement principles of slow and sure success tortoise over the the hair right you want to get there and you want to stay stay there and you want to enjoy the ride so Implement these principles and until next time my friends remember you're doing better than you think and you're worth more than you know
